KWPN Stallion Show: Totilas thrills the crowd

This year's dressage evening at the KWPN Stallion Show was more popular than ever. Tickets sold out at 5:00 p.m., and several hundred people were turned away.

Dressage enthusiasts packed the Brabanthallen to watch the GMB Stallion Competition; VHO Trophy Competition; clinic with Imke Bartels, Hans Peter Minderhoud, and Sabine van Ruitenbeek; and the awards ceremony for the best KWPN breeders of the past year.

But the real excitement was yet to come: the world's greatest horses. First, Jazz - the number one sire in the WBFSH breeding rankings - was honored with a demonstration by his approved sons. Then, the sire's most famous son entered the ring, Parzival. As rider Adelinde Cornelissen explained her training strategy to the audience, she showcased the beautiful chestnut's talent.

Next was Gribaldi's official retirement from the show ring. A fireworks display heralded the stallion's entrance in the ring, where he showed off his movement under saddle. As his breeder, Marika Werner, and owners, Joop and Anne van Uijtert, looked on, Edward Gal gave his final performance in the show ring on the black stallion who was declared preferent that evening. Then, Hans Peter Minderhoud entered the ring on Gribaldi's son Painted Black and demonstrated the stallion's incredible movement and a textbook-perfect piaffe.

The climax of the evening was a performance by the KWPN-recognized stallion Totilas, who thrilled spectators with his out-of-this-world movement characterized by unbelievable elevation, power, and suppleness. With emotions almost palpable, spectators cheered wildly and gave Totilas and Edward a standing ovation - a fitting conclusion to another unforgettable dressage evening at the KWPN Stallion Show.
