Anky cancels lawsuit against Appels

After long consideration with her family and with her lawyer Mr. Schelstraete, Anky van Grunsven has decided to stop the lawsuit against the Flamish internet journalist Appels.

Miscalculation concerning the strategy of the defendent had a large effect on Anky’s decision.

The strategy of the defendent, with an extensive media campaign and the unfair publicity brought both positive and negative discussions. Anky says it is not good for the sport, but also not for the privacy of the family, to continue the procedure.

The questions asked to the Dutch parliament, by Esther Ouwehand to Minister Verburg, arose from the negative publicity started by the defendents, this was a bridge too far for Anky. These questions had nothing to do with the procedure against Appels. Subjects that have nothing to do with the lawsuit. Private business has become more important than the matter itself.
 

From now on, Anky wants to focus on her work, family and sport. She is qualified for the World Equestrian Games in September.
